You will start using thos structures in your speaking. On the other hand, you will improve your listening comprehension.

Pronunciation of -ed ending

img_2394-e1572776552764.jpgVery often my students are not aware of the importance of pronouncing English words correctly. The sounds of a language change the meaning of a word. For example, if you want to make the difference between the present simple and the past simple of a regular verb, you need to pronounce the -ed ending correctly.

I want- I wanted

Guy Fawkes: V for Vendetta.

The film V for Vendetta deals with the historic fact of the gunpowder plot.

Remember, remember the 5th of November

Working with rhymes is a good exercise for our students. They learn pronunciation and intonation.

What are the words to Remember, Remember The Fifth of November?

There are many versions of the rhyme that have survived in different parts of England since the 17th century.

Most begin with the same or very similar words. This is the basic form:

Remember, remember, the Fifth of November

Gunpowder treason and plot

 I see no reason

why gunpowder treason

Should ever be forgot

Guy Fawkes

Bonfire Night is celebrated in Britain every year on the fifth of November.

The next videos present the origin of this celebration:

Who was Guy Fawkes?

European Day of Languages at IES La Foia(Ibi)

Today  at school we celebrated the European Day of Languages.

Students from 1st ESO enjoyed it very much. They filled a map, labelling the countries with their language. We have learnt that Europe has 24 official European languages.

As a teacher, I must say it has been an enriching experience. As a result, my basic and fundamental skills on critical thinking have been boosted. Also, my communicative oral skills have improved and I can use and apply all this knowledge in my personal development and in my teaching job. On the other hand, I met different people and learnt interesting cultural and historical facts about Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Spain, Saint Martin, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, North Macedonia and Croatia.

In addition, I realised once more how important it is to teach our students critical thinking skills.

I have used some of the activities learnt in the course in my English lesson with Bachillerato students.
